FUJIN

The mixed woodwind chamber ensemble Fujin promotes traditional and contemporary music by concertizing throughout the United States. Founded as a duo in 2010 by flutist Misty Theisen and saxophonist Marc Ballard (Xavier University - New Orleans), the group performed extant repertoire in addition to newly commissioned pieces specifically written for this unique instrumentation. Since 2016, Fujin has expanded to a trio configuration with the addition of longtime collaborator, composer and saxophonist Alan Theisen.

Fujin continues to perform transcriptions created by its members (Beethoven, Telemann, Reger, Bach) as well as premiere original works by an array of contemporary composers (Stephen Dankner, Neil Anderson-Himmelspach, Michael Young, Wes Flinn, etc.).
